This Privacy Policy explains how IMGC ("we", "us") collects, uses and shares information when you visit or use imgur.cloud (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide. When you create an account we collect your username, email address and password (stored hashed, never in plain text). If you contact us we collect the name, email address and message you submit.
Content you upload. We store the images and any titles, descriptions, tags or album names you submit. Uploaded files may contain embedded metadata (EXIF), which can include camera model, date and, if your device records it, GPS location. You can strip EXIF data in your account settings.
Information collected automatically. We log your IP address, browser type and version, device and operating system, referring page, pages viewed and timestamps. We use cookies and similar technologies as described in section 4.
2. How we use information
- To operate the Service: storing, processing and delivering your images.
- To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
- To detect, prevent and investigate abuse, spam, fraud and violations of our Terms of Service.
- To respond to your support requests and legal notices.
- To measure traffic and improve the Service.
- To display advertising, as described in section 5.
3. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these cases:
- Public content. Images and albums you mark as public, along with your public profile, are visible to anyone.
- Service providers. Hosting, content delivery, email delivery and analytics providers that process data on our behalf.
- Advertising partners. See section 5.
- Legal reasons. When required by law, or to protect our rights, safety, or the rights and safety of others.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, secure the Service against abuse, and measure traffic. Advertising partners may also set cookies, as described below.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Note that if you block essential cookies, sign-in and uploading will stop working.
5. Advertising
We display advertising to keep the Service free.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You may opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices or, in Europe, at youronlinechoices.com.
- Third-party vendors and ad networks other than Google may also serve ads on this site. You can visit the sites above to opt out of their personalised advertising where they participate in those programmes.
6. Legal bases and your rights
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your data on the basis of contract (operating your account), legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, measurement) and consent (non-essential cookies and personalised advertising).
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, object to or restrict processing, and request a copy of your data. You may delete your account and your uploaded content at any time from your account settings, or contact us using the details in section 10.
7. Data retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. Uploaded content is kept until you delete it or your account is removed. Server and security logs are kept for a limited period and then deleted or anonymised. Some records may be retained longer where required by law.
8. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security and international transfers
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and hashed passwords. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Our providers may process data in countries other than your own; where required we rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers.
10. Changes and contact
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
Questions about this policy, or requests regarding your data, can be sent to [email protected] or through our contact page.
